Harry Hefner (Hefner)

Harry J. Hefner, Sr., 80, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at a Topeka care facility. He was born August 3, 1943 in Topeka, the son of Albert M. and Agnes L. (Siegfried) Hefner.

Harry graduated from Highland Park High School. He was employed by M. Katch & Company, Cummings Supply, White Star and the State Kansas before retiring. Harry was also employed by Heartland Park for over 23 years. In his younger years, he was involved in IMCA dirt track racing in the Midwest. Later in life was involved in NHRA Jr. Drag Racing with his grandkids. He was a huge Nascar fan.

Harry married Sandy K. Brown on May 29, 1962 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include children, Harry (Sandy) Hefner, Jr. of Topeka, Michael Hefner of Chandler, Arizona, Ronnie (Teresa) Hefner of Topeka, grandchildren, Jaclyn (Kevin) Lawson, Nicole (Nick) Sauceman, Alex (Elizabeth) Hefner, Harry (Victoria) Hefner III, and seven great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Hefner, Thomas Hefner, Judith Douglas, Robert Hefner, Dorothy Rush, Genevieve Heston and Ruthie Covert.

A Celebration of Harry's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place in Topeka Cemetery at a later date.
