Marvin Dennison

Reverend Marvin E. Dennison, 71, Tecumseh, died Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was born June 27, 1943, in Topeka, the son of Norris and BettyLou Dennison.

Marvin graduated from Highland Park High School. He played Senior Slow Pitch Softball and enjoyed bowling. He also enjoyed model railroading. He is a published author.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964 and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga. He later served in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Marvin worked 30 years in Evangelism for the Church of the Nazarene Children’s Ministries, Revivals, and Church Camps across the United States, and Maritime Provinces of Canada – using puppets, drama, music, and preaching. In the ministry he was known as “Mr. D.”

He later worked in the NICU at Stormont-Vail.

He joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1954.

Marvin married Linda Ashton on July 27, 1965, in Topeka. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Michael (Yong) Dennison, San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Shelly (Danna) Greene, Meriden; brothers, Bob (Renea) Dennison, Topeka, David (Gloria) Dennison, Topeka, Jim (Lori) Dennison of Blue Springs, Missouri and sister, Mary Jackson of Patoka, Illinois and three wonderful grandchildren, Marci, Makayla and Drew whom he adored.

Services will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 25, 2014, at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene, 730 SW Fairlawn. Military honors will be conducted at Topeka Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue.
